This site is published and edited by Kevin Thomas “Thom” Carter, a photographer and photography journalist. A former freelance editorial photographer and journalist (France, Hertfordshire Life), freelance photography magazine editor, technical writer and consultant, he is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in print and online media.

He is also a recovering camera and software reviewer, having contributed 1000s of articles and reviews to some of the most widely known and respected specialist photography and IT titles in the UK, Europe and the US, including CNET (CBS), British Journal of Photography, HotShoe International, Professional Photographer, F2 Freelance, Digital Photographer, Digital Camera World, DSLR User, Digital Photo Pro, MacUser, MacFormat and PCPro.

From 2012-14 Thom was a freelance Senior Editor at the DxOMark websitea related but separate company from DxO software and was responsible for all Camera (Sensor), Lens and Mobile reviews there. He is known in particular for leading the photo industry discussion on the benefits of sensor dynamic range via that site’s Sensor Reviews and is the longest-serving writer there, having written over 1500 reviews on the site.

He still freelances for the new DXOMARK site (now totally separate from DxO software) as a writer and for several print magazines and websites, including the Canon EMEA Pro, Pro AV and consumer sites, and is available for both writing and architecture, interior and garden photography commissions.
