Sony is on a roll with the Sony A1 and then adding, the Xperia PRO smartphone, to the range. Sony to introduce new ultra-wide FE 12-24mm F2.8 GM zoom?
Sony seems set to bolster the range with a new high-performance G Master FE 12-24mm F2.8 GM lens for their full-frame and APS-C mirrorless models. If the image is genuine and the maximum aperture is a constant F2.8, then it looks as if Sony will have the world’s fastest ultra-wide 12-24mm zoom; all previous models have been F4 or smaller. Although it looks relatively compact, no further details are available but expect it to be announced sometime next week.

Sony SD card replacement program
Sony issued a replacement program (a recall in common parlance) for some SD cards on 18 June, 2020 relating to their SF-M series, as well as their two Tough spec series, the SF-M (T) and SF-G (T). If your cards have an asterisk before the lower of the two serial numbers on the reverse side of the card or start with TR (SF-G Tough only) then your card is unaffected. Although this was reported by DPReview which published US contact details only, if you’re in GB, Ireland, Latvia or Estonia, you can request an SD card exchange from the following link, here. Sony state that recorded footage data on the card…

Sony announces Full Frame 24mm F1.4 G Master Prime for E-mount
Sony has announced a new ultra-high speed lens for its mirrorless APS-C and full-frame camera systems, the FE 24mm F1.4 G Master Prime. It has a relatively complex design of 13 elements in 10 groups, with three of those being ED glass to reduce CA and focuses to (a fairly typical) 0.24m (0.79 ft). Sony claim the adoption of two XA (extreme aspherical) elements effectively suppresses sagittal flare, more commonly known as coma. Thus, with its wide angular field of view and ultra-high speed F1.4 maximum aperture, should appeal to photographers hoping to capture the night sky without the tell-tale aberration that results in smeared stars (point light sources), usually more…
