    LEE100 Polariser Filter review

April 9, 2024 / Comments Off on LEE100 Polariser Filter review

Lee100 Filter Holder – Why do you need it? Although you can use image editing software to achieve many of the same effects with specific filters, such as a polariser to cut reflections and improve saturation, it remains advantageous for some types of photography, such as interiors and landscapes As they cut down on exposure somewhat, they can also be used as a pseudo Neutral Density (ND) filter, albeit mostly in a limited fashion*. They are also pretty expensive, so if you have several lenses of different thread diameters, using a holder can save a lot of money. Please note this review has been edited and updated from the Lee100…

Grab a free filter ring when buying a Lee 100 Holder

March 28, 2021 / Comments Off on Grab a free filter ring when buying a Lee 100 Holder

Lee Filters, the manufacturer of the popular Lee 100 filter system is offering a free filter ring when buying a Lee 100 Holder [affliate link]. You can choose either a standard ring fitting 49-82mm filter threads or the usually more expensive wide angle type over 43-82mm. As most of the new pro-grade lenses, such as the Canon RF 50/85mm and the ‘zoom trinity’ have 82mm filter threads, it’s a good opportunity to get an 82mm WA ring for free. The offer closes on the 31st March.

    LEE100 Filter Holder review

    August 15, 2019 / 1 Comment

Lee100 Filter Holder – What is it? The Lee100 Filter Holder is a completely redesigned version of the popular and versatile 100mm filter holder for square (and rectangular filters). Like its predecessor, the Foundation holder which I have, the Lee100 Filter Holder also stands out for being one of the few that accepts a polariser – it fits to the front of the holder to allow the use of older, more affordable polyester filters, or ‘gels’ which would otherwise interfere optically. The holder attaches to the lens using a specific adapter ring, so you need only buy a ring for each different size diameter thread, instead of multiple filters of…

Lee Filters adds Hood and Tandem Filter Adaptor to LEE100 range

August 2, 2019 / Comments Off on Lee Filters adds Hood and Tandem Filter Adaptor to LEE100 range

Lee Filters has announced a collapsible Hood as well as a Tandem Filter Adaptor for the recently redesigned LEE100 Filter Holder, launched earlier in the year. Made from water-resistant reinforced nylon, the newly designed LEE100 Hood is characterised by its “sturdy” construction and self-supporting design, which does away with rails or guides. The 320g hood comes with an attachment ring that clips to the LEE100 Filter Holder using four locking tabs which can then locked in place using a single lever. This is then attached to the lens as normal with a threaded adaptor ring. The filter holder and hood can be rotated independently, allowing the use of graduated ND filters…

Lee Filters introduce new filter holder for 100mm filters

    March 29, 2019 / 1 Comment

Update: Read our review here Lee Filters have updated its venerable filter holder for the Lee100 system – the maker’s main filter system for small- and medium-format cameras. The new filter holder has been redesigned using lightweight, composite materials, and filter guide blocks clip onto the filter holder, so you no longer have to unscrew them when reorienting or when adding more guides to allow additional filters to be inserted. There’s also a new locking system. Like its predecessor, the locking system allows simple unimpeded rotation of the filter holder around the filter ring but a new twist-lock option allows additional locking to prevent accidental movement of the filter holder…
