Canon RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM
Almost certainly this new lens is the successor to the EF100-400mm F4.5-5.6L IS USM. If you don’t believe that, ask yourself if it makes sense for Canon to make that lens after introducing this. And remember this is an L-series lens, and if the new RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM is anything to go by this should be an excellent performer. Canon EOS R6 Specifications
Definitely the more intriguing (as in left field) of the two cameras released, this appears to be targeting (some) EOS-1DX Mark III users to transition over to mirrorless. For starters, it uses the same 20.1MP sensor or at least a related sensor – it has Dual Pixel CMOS AF II instead and can shoot continuously at up to 20 fps with Servo AF, or up to 12 fps using the mechanical shutter. Canon EOS R5 Specs
The Canon EOS R5 takes over as the flagship in the mirrorless EOS R lineup, but the specification is curiously biased towards video rather than stills. An AA filter means the 45MP resolution the resolving power will be affected, but we’ll have to wait for tests to see by just how much. It’s also rather expensive, being quite a bit more than the 60MP Sony A7R IV. Nevertheless, it has a hi-res 5.76 million dot EVF, like that of the Panasonic S1 series and Leica SL2 plus it has the interesting Bluetooth v5.0 spec which should mean compatibility with wireless headphones. Canon EOS R5 and six further lenses to be announced soon
Canon is expected to formally reveal the full-frame Canon EOS R5 this Thursday, along with a previously announced lens (RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM) and two teleconverters (RF 1.4x, RF 2x) during a live-streamed event, starting at 2pm CEST. According to Canon Japan, there are a further six RF lenses that are expected to be announced ‘under-development’, with the aim of having them introduced by the year-end. Capture One announce Summer Promotion

Sony to introduce new ultra-wide FE 12-24mm F2.8 GM zoom?
Sony seems set to bolster the range with a new high-performance G Master FE 12-24mm F2.8 GM lens for their full-frame and APS-C mirrorless models. If the image is genuine and the maximum aperture is a constant F2.8, then it looks as if Sony will have the world’s fastest ultra-wide 12-24mm zoom; all previous models have been F4 or smaller. Although it looks relatively compact, no further details are available but expect it to be announced sometime next week.
Leica M10-R to be announced soon
The existence of the Leica M10-R with a high resolution CMOS sensor has been known for sometime and was allegedly postponed due to the pandemic. But, according to well-known source Nokishita Camera, the eagerly awaited camera should be announced over the next few days. There’s no word yet on price or availability, or even the actual sensor resolution. Although expected to use a similar 47MP sensor to that found in the Leica SL2, the same was said of the M10 Monochrom, which in the end shipped with a 40MP sensor.
