What is it? Bearing the prestigious L-series designation, the Canon RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM is a versatile 4x zoom with a decent wide and telephoto coverage and a 0.45m minimum focus distance. It’s also the first in the RF mount to feature a new, compact “thin” Nano USM actuator providing quiet yet fast AF. An edited version of my review originally featured over a decade ago in Hotshoe International magazine. With the closure of Franke and Heidecke*, the medium format market has been dominated by just two players: Hasselblad and Phase One.
