How to easily install and organise Styles in Capture One Pro

    September 25, 2019 / 1 Comment

Capture One Styles are an important feature in Capture One and Capture One Pro. Styles are perhaps the single most important aid to your branding, and can save you both time and money when re-creating your unique creative vision. In addition to the Built-in Styles that are supplied with Capture One Pro, which you can use as a starting point to edit your images, you can also buy additional Styles or “Style Packs” from the official Capture One site [official link*] or from our Store.     While Styles can greatly improve your workflow and reduce the time you spend editing, they’re not an instant fix for problem images. Importing Images into Capture One

July 30, 2019 / Comments Off on Importing Images into Capture One

If you’re new to Capture One, either as a beginner or more experienced photographer coming from Lightroom, then there are a few concepts that you need to know about the process that will help you when importing images.  Capture One (for Sony or Fujifilm) employs a Catalog-based only image management system, whereas Capture One Pro features an additional Session-based workflow. Sessions work a little differently to Catalogs. They don’t require all the images to be indexed when importing, so they can be a better solution in some circumstances.  Sessions tend to be used by professionals (but are just as useful for amateurs) when working on a job-by-job or subject-by-subject basis.…

Phase One Adds Automated Frame Averaging to IQ4 series Digital Backs

June 28, 2019 / Comments Off on Phase One Adds Automated Frame Averaging to IQ4 series Digital Backs

Phase One has announced that it will be adding ‘Automated Frame Averaging’ to its newly introduced Full-Frame 645 MF (54 x 40mm) Phase One IQ4 series digital backs next week. Automated Frame Averaging was mentioned during the original announcement of the IQ4 series and is said to reduce shadow noise and protect highlights from clipping. The new feature leverages the electronic shutter in the new IQ4 DBs (as well as the increased RAM and upgraded processor) to capture multiple frames in rapid succession, often with no significant time between them which may otherwise lead to moving elements appearing as blurred artefacts. The series of frames are merged generating a single RAW…

Capture One 12.1 Announced with New tools and Profile Support for Nikkor Z mount Lenses

June 17, 2019 / Comments Off on Capture One 12.1 Announced with New tools and Profile Support for Nikkor Z mount Lenses

Phase One, the company behind Capture One and Capture One Pro RAW processing software has announced 12.1, the first feature release of version 12.0. New features include a Grid tool that groups the options together from what was previously found under the global Preferences into a separate tool brick. This important compositional aid features a dedicated short-cut and is now separate from the Guides feature. As standalone the Grid tool is both simpler and more logical in use. It’s located under the Lens Inspector, but like the majority of tools in Capture One Pro it can be added to any to the Tool Inspectors or ‘Tool Tabs’. Guides are accessible from…

Capture One Pro Fujifilm Available As Perpetual License

October 9, 2018 / Comments Off on Capture One Pro Fujifilm Available As Perpetual License

Phase One announced at Photokina this year that Capture One Pro 11.3 was available with extended RAW support for Fujifilm cameras, most notably that they supported the medium format  GFX 50S (and new GFX 50R, unofficially). Phase One also introduced a less feature rich Express version Capture One Express Fujifilm specifically for Fujifilm users, which is offered as a similar arrangement to the Capture One Express Sony.  Capture One Express lacks some of the features of the Pro version such as Sessions, Layers and tethered camera control, but RAW file support for the cameras and lens profiles doesn’t vary. See here for the full list of features. A Pro version…
