Canon announces pricing and availability of RF 85mm F1.2L USM
Canon has announced the price and availability of the RF 85mm F1.2L USM. Designed for the mirrorless RF mount cameras, the new lens features a new optical design with aspherical and UD elements and is only the second lens, after the EF 35mm F1.4L II USM to feature Canon’s proprietary BR (Blue Spectrum optics) optics. Canon is rightfully cagey about the BR technology but it is thought to be a balsam-type material sandwiched between two elements. DxOMark returns to lens testing
After a break of several months DxOMark has returned to testing lenses. The first model to have the data published is the new Z-mount Nikon Nikkor Z 50mm F1.8 S for the mirrorless Nikon Z 6 and Z 7 cameras. For the time being data is only available when mounted on the higher resolution Nikon Z 7 but as that is the highest resolution body of the two it will stress the sensor more and deliver a higher sharpness score and contribute to a higher overall score. Capture One Pro 12.0.3 released provides support for Sony A6400, Panasonic S1 and S1R and Nikkor Z 24-70mm F4

The latest version 12.0.3 adds RAW file support for a number of recently released, high-profile cameras including the Olympus OMD E-M1X, Sony A6400 and the full-frame Panasonic Lumix DC-S1 and S1R. Serial leaker Nokishita Camera has published the specs of a long-rumoured Zeiss Otus 1,4/100 for Canon EF and Nikon F-mount bodies. X-Rite announces new ColorChecker Passport and Calibration solution using ICC profiles for Capture One Pro
Colour management and measurement specialists X-Rite has introduced a new ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 target that has four targets (instead of three, previously) including a new 18% Grey Balance target and new software for the creation of custom ICC camera profiles for use with Capture One Pro or any other workflow that uses ICC profiles. Sigma introduce MC-21 Mount Converter for L mount bodies
Sigma has introduced the MC-21 mount converter for mirrorless L-mount bodies, at the time of writing includes the Leica SL/TL and the new Panasonic S1 and S1R. There are two versions of the converter, the £249.99 EF-L allows Canon EF mount lenses, including Sigma lenses with EF mount to attach to L mount bodies. Priced at just £99, the second, SA-L version, allows Sigma lenses with the SA mount to fit the same bodies. Sigma has confirmed the new converter has compatibility with 29 Sigma full-frame and APS-C lenses with the latter automatically enabling the auto-crop feature on full-frame bodies. Lee Filters introduce new filter holder for 100mm filters
Update: Read our review here Lee Filters have updated its venerable filter holder for the Lee100 system – the maker’s main filter system for small- and medium-format cameras.
