Understanding Copy and Paste settings in Lightroom Classic

February 18, 2026 / Comments Off on Understanding Copy and Paste settings in Lightroom Classic

Using the Copy and Paste buttons in the side panel of the Develop Module can be a little unintuitive at first. When you use these features, they only apply the settings to the first selected (active) image due to how Lightroom Classic handles these commands. Why It Happens Selected Image Focus: The Copy and Paste buttons are designed primarily to work with the currently highlighted (active) image. Even if you have multiple images selected, it will only copy from and paste to the first image you highlighted. User Interface Behaviour: This behaviour is consistent with many versions of Lightroom, where the main image in an active selection takes precedence in these…

Applying Settings to multiple images in Lightroom Classic

    February 18, 2026 / 1 Comment

You can apply settings to multiple images at a time in Lightroom Classic through various methods. This helps save time and ensures consistency across your photo edits. The following methods apply to multiple settings, of course, or specific ones, so if you have a sequence of images, they are an efficient way to apply targeted adjustments. For example, on a garden or architecture shoot, I often want to adjust specific colours using the Colour Mixer tool and have those applied over several images for a consistent look. So these options are employed practically every time I open Lightroom. 1. Using Sync Settings from the Develop Module Select the Images: Go…

Canon announces the RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5L Fisheye STM lens

February 11, 2026 / Comments Off on Canon announces the RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5L Fisheye STM lens

Canon announced the Canon RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5L Fisheye STM lens on the same day as the RF 14mm F1.4L VCM, see the previous post. This new Fisheye lens replaces the highly regarded EF model and is a welcome addition to the range, but it is likely to appeal to a smaller market. I reviewed the EF 8-15mm F4L Fisheye USM lens and the later Nikon equivalent and found them very useful for their unique field of view. What’s more, I’ve sold photographs made with both lenses, so while niche and appealing mainly to the editorial market, the unusual perspectives do get noticed. The new lens costs £1,719 inc VAT ($1,899)…

Canon announces astro-oriented RF 14mm F1.4L VCM lens

February 9, 2026 / Comments Off on Canon announces astro-oriented RF 14mm F1.4L VCM lens

Canon’s new RF 14mm F1.4L VCM is targeting astrophotographers, as the lens designers say in an interview published on the Canon Japan site; however, an ultrawide like this is likely to appeal to a much wider audience. The new lens costs £2,399 inc VAT ($2,599) and will be available from 20th February. A second lens was also announced: the Canon RF 7-14mm F2.8-3.5L FISHEYE STM lens. Key features and user benefits • Rectilinear ultra-wide hybrid-type prime for lower distortion (supplemented with digital (profile) correction) • Fast F1.4 maximum aperture for added versatility in low light (faster shutter speeds possible for night-time and astro photography, reducing movement blur and noise) •…

    Leica Noctilux-M 35mm F1.2 ASPH announced

    January 29, 2026 / Comments Off on Leica Noctilux-M 35mm F1.2 ASPH announced

Leica has officially announced the Leica Noctilux-M 35mm F1.2 ASPH for Leica M cameras. The new lens has a high-speed maximum aperture of F1.2 and is the first in the Noctilux series to feature the 35mm focal length. It consists of 10 elements in five groups (which includes 3 aspherical elements and floating elements). It also features an appealing minimum focus distance of just 0.5m, yet retains the common 49 mm filter thread size, measures 50 mm (2 in) in length, and weighs 416 g (14.6 oz). The new lens will be available immediately for £7,700 inc VAT /$9,650. Summary: Maximum aperture: F1.2 Elements: 10 elements in 5 groups (including…

ND Filter Factors, Densities and F-Stops compared

January 26, 2026 / Comments Off on ND Filter Factors, Densities and F-Stops compared

Numerous manufacturers use different terminology for their Neutral Density filters, which can sometimes make direct comparisons difficult. I’ve produced this chart showing the various designations in use against the number of stops reduced. Some manufacturers produce filters that fall in between stops, making comparisons even harder. For example, an ND400 filter would be just below 9 stops, but probably within tolerance to be marketed as a 9-stop filter. Those highlighted are the three most versatile filters overall, though it depends on your intended use. A 15-stop filter for long exposures in bright conditions, fully blurring clouds and smoothing seas, might be more useful than a 10-stop, which may only partially…

    Leica Summilux-M 50 F1.4 Classic (V2) lens review

    January 20, 2026 / Comments Off on Leica Summilux-M 50 F1.4 Classic (V2) lens review

Leica recently launched a new version of its classic Summilux-M 50 F1.4 lens from 1959. Kevin Carter takes a look.   As the fifth in the Classic Line series, following the Summaron-M 28 F5.6, Thambar-M 90 F2.2, Noctilux-M 50 F1.2 ASPH, and the Summilux-M 35 F1.4, the newly reissued M-mount model features vintage Leica styling, including a scalloped focusing ring and chrome-plated brass construction. To complete the vintage aesthetic, there’s even a circular, “vented” hood in black with chrome locking buttons. Optically, the lens is based on the second Summilux-M 50 f/1.4 (II) formula, a design that promises highly attractive rendering, wide open, with soft blur transitions to out-of-focus highlights.…

Leica M EV1 review: Electronic viewfinder model is a revelation

November 27, 2025 / Comments Off on Leica M EV1 review: Electronic viewfinder model is a revelation

What is it? The Leica M EV1 is a long-rumoured model based on the Leica M11 body and M-mount, but with an electronic viewfinder rather than an optical rangefinder. It’s a feature that’s been a long time coming, but now that it’s here, what is it really like? And does it really ‘work’ in place of the rangefinder? Key features Full-frame 60MP BSI-CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Technology ( 60, 36 or 18 megapixels) 5.76 megapixel EVF Manual focus only, with focus peaking and focus assist (magnification) aids at taking aperture Supports Content Credentials 64 GB internal memory (and single SD slot) Connectivity via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or cable Available from…
